Prof. Dan Olteanu joins the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics

We welcome Dan Olteanu as a new professor for Big Data Science at the Departement of Informatics.

Dan Olteanu, born in 1976, studied computer science at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest and received his doctorate at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) Munich in 2005. After working as a post-doctoral researcher at Saarland University, Saarbrücken, and as a lecturer at Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg, he joined St. Cross College at the University of Oxford, UK, as a fellow in 2007. He has been a full professor in the Department of Computer Science there since 2016. In recent years, Prof. Oltenau has also served as Visiting Associate Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, USA, and as Turing Fellow at the Alan Turing Institute in London. He spends his time understanding hard computational challenges on data processing and designing simple and scalable solutions towards these challenges.
