Human-Centered Computing

Informatics has a profound impact on humans and society, significantly changing patterns of communication, information, and social interaction in both our private and working lives. Conversely, it is people who are behind the forward march of informatics and shape the informatics-based systems that change our world.

Gone are the days when informatics was simply about solving problems using algorithms. The Bachelor's study program in Human-Centered Computing addresses this state of affairs and takes an in-depth look at how information technology is shaped with people in mind, as well as the interaction between people and computers.

You will learn how information technology can be designed and used to serve the interests of individuals, groups, and society as a whole, looking at the important issues of user-friendliness, security, as well as cultural and ethical aspects. You will design interactive systems using creative approaches, visualize information, and acquire the knowledge of informatics you need to achieve this.

Career prospects and further degree programs

With knowledge of human-centered computing, you will be in demand as a specialist in companies across all industries, where you will develop user-friendly software as well as employee-oriented and customer-oriented applications.

You will also be called upon to help companies understand and shape interactions between humans and computer-based systems and analyze their economic and social implications. Furthermore, there are additional career prospects in applications such as smart home technologies, digital aging solutions or online platforms for group interactions.
