Master's Admission in Business and Economics

The Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics observes an open, quality-focused admissions policy based on the admissions regulations of UZH as well as its own regulations and practices. The information below gives you an indication of which categorization to expect.

Graduate Management Admission Test / Graduate Record Examination

The submission of a GMAT or GRE is mandatory for all applicants from universities abroad, from universities of applied sciences (CH/abroad) or for applicants with a Bachelor's degree in a non-subject (CH/abroad). Applicants with a Bachelor's degree in the same subject from a Swiss university do not need to submit a GMAT or GRE.

Please use the following codes to submit GMAT or GRE scores:

GMAT:   XZM-HL-36, University of Zurich - All other Masters

GRE:     institution code 7136

In addition to the older versions, you can also submit the new GRE or the new GMAT Focus. Please note, however, that the GRE at home or the GMAT online will not be accepted.

Form for calculating the weighted grade point average

For the specialized academic review for admission we require the document you have completed to calculate the weighted grade point average. Please only fill in courses that have been graded. Please do not enter courses that have been graded with "pass" or "fail". Do not forget the minimum passing grade and the maximum grade of your home university at the end of the document. The submission of this form is mandatory for all applicants from universities abroad, from universities of applied sciences (CH/abroad), for applicants with a minor degree comprising 60 ECTS in a specialization in business and economics and  for applicants with a Bachelor's degree from other fields (CH/abroad).

Prior university studies in business and economics

Bachelor's degree from a Swiss university:

Holders of a Bachelor's degree from a Swiss university will be categorized into the Master's program in the same specialization as their Bachelor's degree without additional conditions (although additional requirements may apply).

Bachelor’s degrees from a foreign university

The same requirements apply as for graduates of Swiss universities. The decision is based on a sur dossier examination of your transcript and all submitted documents.

The submission of a GMAT or GRE is mandatory.

Application

Degree in business and economics from a university of applied sciences

Applicants holding a degree from a university of applied sciences who meet the admission requirements of UZH are generally not able to enter the Master's programs directly. Experience has shown that knowledge and skills are lacking equivalent to more than 60 ECTS credits. The decision is based on a sur dossier examination of your transcript and all submitted documents.

The submission of a GMAT or GRE is mandatory.

Attention: Please note that students holding a Bachelor's degree from a university of applied sciences in Switzerland or another signatory state of the Lisbon Convention must have at least an overall grade of 5 in the Bachelor's degree FH for a Master's program at UZH.

Application

Bachelor's minor degree in business and economics

Graduates from a Swiss university with a very good minor degree comprising 60 ECTS credits in a specialization in business and economics may apply for the Master's major degree.

Application

Prior studies in other fields

In principle, applications with a background from an other field than business and economics will be considered.
