Teaching Diploma for Upper Secondary Education

In addition to a subject-specific Master's degree, the «Teaching Diploma for Upper Secondary Education» program provides training in the methods and principles of teaching, enabling graduates to teach at upper secondary level.

In order to teach at upper secondary level, both a subject-specific education and training in didactics are required. You will find information on subject-specific education below.

Requirements and information on admission to the Teaching Diploma program

We recommend finding out about the admission requirements for the Teaching Diploma program as early as possible. Careful planning will give you the opportunity to incorporate the subject-specific requirements into your normal studies (Bachelor's and Master's programs).

As a Business and Economics student, you require the following subject-specific education according to appendix 2.5 of the program regulations for the Teaching Diploma for Upper Secondary Education in order to pursue Economics and Law as a teaching subject:

• 90 ECTS credits of course content from a major study program at Bachelor’s level in Business and Economics (compare table below «Subareas WWF»)
• A Master's degree in Business and Economics (major 90 ECTS credits, incl. Master’s thesis)
• At least 30 ECTS credits from the field of law

*The above list includes both 30 ECTS credits of business administration and
30 ECTS credits of economics modules.

The compulsory modules can be repeated once. The core elective modules can be repeated once each or substituted by other modules of the core elective areas.

These 30 ECTS credits from the field of law are based on the course program defined in Appendix 2.5 of the program regulations for the Teaching Diploma for Upper Secondary Education. You can incorporate these ECTS credits into your studies in Business and Economics as follows:

• By completing the minor program in Law during your Bachelor's program.
• Doing so, you choose the modules that are also part of the Teaching Diploma program.

If you complete the modules without taking the minor program in Law, they may only be transferred toward the Bachelor's program within the scope of the free elective area.

To take Informatics as a first teaching subject in combination with a second teaching subject, you require according to appendix 2.4 of the program regulations for the Teaching Diploma for Upper Secondary Education the following specialized academic education:

• 60 ECTS credits of content from a major study program at Bachelor’s level in informatics (compare table below «Subareas Bachelor’s study program»).
• Master's degree in Informatics (Major 90 ECTS credits, incl. Master's thesis).

The compulsory modules can be repeated once. The elective modules can each be repeated once or substituted by other modules from the elective area in Informatics.

The second teaching subject must be worth at least 90 ECTS credits. To ensure that this counts fully toward your studies, select the following combinations:

• Bachelor: Major program in Informatics with Natural Sciences (120 ECTS credits) with a minor program in the Faculty of Science (60 ECTS credits)
• Master: Any major program in the Informatics degree program (90 ECTS credits) with the consecutive minor program in the Faculty of Science (30 ECTS credits)

Informatics as a teaching subject

To take Informatics as a second or additional teaching subject, you need the following specialized academic education:

• 60 ECTS credits of content from a minor study program at Bachelor's level in Informatics (compare table below «Subareas Bachelor's study program»).
• 30 ECTS credits of content from a minor study program at Master's level in Informatics (see compare table below «Areas Master's study program»).

The compulsory modules can be repeated once. The elective modules can each be repeated once or substituted by other modules from the elective area or minor area in Informatics.
