Prof. Jana-Rebecca Rehse and Prof. Theodoros Rekatsinas join our Faculty

As of 1 September 2026, we welcome two new associate professors to the Department of Informatics: Jana-Rebecca Rehse, associate professor of information systems in organizations, and Theodoros Rekatsinas, associate professor of large-scale systems.

Prof. Jana-Rebecca Rehse studied at Saarland University in Saarbrücken, Germany, where she earned her PhD in 2019. In 2020, she was appointed as an assistant professor at the University of Mannheim. Prof. Rehse also teaches at the Mannheim Business School and the University of Liechtenstein. 

Her research focuses on data-driven business process management using process mining and machine learning, particularly in the areas of user behavior mining, the applicability of process mining in business practice and in process mining evaluation methods.

Prof. Theodoros Rekatsinas received his PhD at the University of Maryland, College Park in 2015. Prof. Rekatsinas held assistant professor positions at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and at the Department of Computer Science at ETH Zürich. He is currently Vice President of Machine Learning at Axelera AI in Zurich. Previously, he served as Tech Lead for Apple Intelligence at Apple in Switzerland and, as Senior Engineering Manager, led teams in the Knowledge Graph AI/MLdivision at Apple in Seattle.

His research focuses on scalable machine learning algorithms and systems over relational data. Specially, he explores the fundamental connections between data preparation, data integration and knowledge management with statistical machine learning and probabilistic inference.
