He just finished his first semester at our Faculty: Francesco Reggiani joined the Department of Business Administration in August 2016 as Assistant Professor for Financial Accounting. Find out what he finds fascinating about his field of expertise and why he never stops learning.
What were the decisive factors for you to join the University of Zurich?
I wanted to join a European university with a very good reputation in research and the ambition to train students to be ready for business. And that's what UZH is all about!
What do you focus on in your research?
I do empirical research in financial accounting and I am always fascinated by the stories accounting numbers tell you. I focus on fundamental analysis and link accounting numbers to finance concepts like the cost of capital and risk in growth.
What would you like to convey to your students?
I always tell my students that fundamental analysis is not a science, it is not an art but it is a skill that grows in you 'learning-by-doing'. No matter how experienced you are, every time you analyze a company you learn something new.
